Legacy - The Journey Here
Share
Stolen people
From far off lands.
The pride of Africa
Enslaved in the Caribbean.
Our strength was exploited
The crops could not wait.
Sugarcane was needed
To build fortunes far away.

Working the plantations
Toiling in the sun.
No time for learning
Work was never done.
Education denied
By those who sought to divide.
Privilege and favour given
By shades of melanin.

They tried to break us apart
But they underestimated the strength of our resolve.
The bitter pill of cruelty and injustice united the captives.
It overcame fear of punishment
Fear of death.
Warriors arose.
Revolted.
Demanded freedom now!
The revolution awakened the heroes
We so desperately needed.
The royal blood of our African ancestors
Infused with the island spices of the Caribbean,
Gave birth to magnificent sons and daughters!
Emboldened by the indomitable spirit of our forefathers,
Guided by an unshakable belief in our divinely created purpose,
The impressions of our footprints, are undeniable.
No longer the minority...
“We are the Global Majority”
Standing Resolute!
Unbroken!
And Undefeated!
